Greenray Launches T1276 TCXO

Greenray Industries, Inc. has announced the availability of the T1276 temperature controlled clock oscillator (TCXO).

The T1276 TCXO is available from 2.5 to 120 MHz and features a rugged, radiation tolerant (200 krad (Si) TID) hermetic package and ultra-low acceleration sensitivity of < 0.07 ppb/g.

CMOS or Sinewave output and MIL-PRF-55310 Level B or S screening is available. Power supply is 3.3 or 5.0 VDC.

A wide temperature operating range of -55°C to +125°C and excellent performance in high shock and vibration environments make the T1276 well-suited to a variety of applications including high orbit transponders, LEO (low Earth orbit) nano/micro satellites, RF telemetry systems, multiband terminals and upconverters.

More information and a comprehensive T1276 TCXO Data Sheet are available online at www.greenrayindustries.com.

The Year Was 1960…

And Ray Green, a young engineer with an avid interest in crystal oscillators, would shortly make a decision that would change his life forever.

Green had worked on quartz crystals and quartz crystal oscillator design at two Pennsylvania-based companies, Hunt Corp. in Carlisle and Hill Electronics in Mechanicsburg. Green’s knowledge of oscillator design, coupled with a keen entrepreneurial spirit and a vision of what could be, led to his decision to start his own business. Green’s first order was for 100 R-C oscillators – built right in the basement of his house.

Contemplating a name for his growing enterprise, Ray turned his first and last names around and, in 1961, “Greenray Industries” was officially up and running. Having outgrown the basement production area, the company relocated to a building in Mechanicsburg, PA on Simpson Road. This would come to be affectionately referred to as the “chicken coop” – but it was a place to start.

In a few short years, continued growth prompted a move to a larger building at 1106 East Simpson Road. And in 1966, with the support of financial partners, the company obtained a plot on West Church Road and a new building was constructed. That building is still used by the company today.

New markets, changing customer needs and design and manufacturing innovation have all combined to shape Greenray Industries’ focus and growth as a company over the years. But one thing remains the same – we’re still producing crystal oscillators. Even though they might look a little different than they did in 1961.

Home Is Where the Suitcase Is (NOT!)

GRI on the road

International trade shows – the glamour, the excitement, the fine dining and nightlife! London, Baltimore, Munich! We’ll give you all that – but it sure is good to be home again.

A busy Fall show schedule kicked off in London this October with European Microwave Week, Europe’s leading microwave conference. Record attendance (over 4900, total) and fair weather combined for a most successful event. “Microwaves Everywhere” proved a fitting theme, with microwave technology workshops, technical papers, roundtables and exhibitors reflecting the depth and breadth of today’s microwave industry.

November 1st found us in Baltimore, Maryland for MILCOM 2016 and the 35th anniversary of this international conference for military communications. Attended by leaders in industry, government and academia, MILCOM uniquely focuses on the challenges of command, control and communication in a rapidly changing cyber world.

With just enough time to repack the suitcase we were off to Electronica 2016 and the beautiful city of Munich, Germany – along with the 72,999 other attendees and 2,900+ companies from around the world. For 2016, the largest electronics trade fair in the world adopted the motto “Connected Worlds – Safe and Secure.” As a designer and manufacturer of products for mission-critical apps for business and industry, we appreciated that – and so did attendees, 99% of whom gave the fair a good to excellent rating. A great industry event that just keeps getting better – we’ll see you in 2018!

To everyone that stopped by to visit Greenray on the road – thank you. We appreciate your interest and hope to see you again soon. And be sure to check back right here for our 2017 calendar of events – it’s sooner than you think!

Exploring – and Exploding – Misconceptions at IMS 2016

Phil M. at IMS 2016 img

As our way of saying Thank You! to everyone we spent time with at this year’s International Microwave Symposium, we thought we’d share with you this short video presentation by Phil Myers, Greenray Sales/Product Manager.  Thanks also to our friends at rfglobalnet.com for their work behind the camera.

Phil explores – and yes, explodes – the myths and misconceptions that exist surrounding oscillator phase noise specification as it relates to shock and vibration performance. And he’s got the facts and figures to back it all up, too. We hope you enjoy it. You can link to the full presentation here.

As for IMS2016 itself, what can we say? IEEE/MTT-S continues to raise the bar for international trade conferences with another world-class conference of exhibitors and exhibits, networking opportunities, educational seminars, technical presentations and panels – all in a fabulous venue. Thank you, IEEE/MTT-S. We’ll see you next year.
